At this time of year celebrations abound, but it’s a difficult time to be in a hospital without the comforts of a warm home, a good meal and loved ones.

We were presented the opportunity to participate in making the local Veterans Hospital just a bit more festive Carnegie jumped at the chance to help. The concept was to design and install a themed holiday tree that would be a tribute to military Veterans.

We wanted our tree to honor all of the Navy Veterans with a special tribute to Mr. Goldman the founder of Carnegie who enlisted at age 17.

Our ornaments had nods to the Navy:

Ribbons were cut and tied with an authentic Navy knots.

Glass orbs were wrapped with blue and white Carnegie fabric.

We spray painted anchors, added some Navy Stars and had a garland of the sculptable Aves.

A talented Carnegie volunteer even made a tailored tree skirt from Monocle Xorel!

All that creative energy showed in the final result. We had a lot of fun and we hope our tribute will bring a smile to the veterans and their families!

As we put up the last few ornaments we knew Mr. G would have been proud!

Happy holidays!
