Location: Chicago, IL
Product & End Use: Xorel Meteor Panels

Xorel was selected for the new sports pavilion and the McCormic Education Center at Northwestern University in Chicago because the designers at Perkins + Will needed a light colored performance textile to cover acoustic panels in high traffic areas of the school. Pattern Meteor is installed in classrooms, hallways and dance studios.

“You don’t often see a textile that is so durable being also aesthetically pleasing. You don’t see the two merge, but Xorel looks fantastic.” -Bernard Chung, designer

“We chose Xorel for our acoustical panels at Northwestern because of its high durability and cleanability,” said Lynette Klein, designer. The University is also pursuing LEED certification for the new buildings, so it was important to select sustainable materials that could contribute to LEED points.
