Ranch-Core: A&D Takes the Reins
By Michelle Ko

Western is having a moment—less rodeo, more romance. Fashion’s ranch-core turns grit into polish, and that energy translates to hospitality, workplace, and multifamily. Here’s how to channel it—no theme props required.

1. Prairie, Modernized
Airy, fluid layers meet heritage motifs—think light sheers and embroidered/jacquard florals edited for scale and clarity. It’s romance with restraint, delivering softness without slipping into costume.
Where it works: boutique lobbies, lounge nooks, guest rooms
Spec cues: acoustic sheers; soft hand; durable upholstery; finish-free
Pair with: matte metals, leather accents, natural stone

2. Indigo Range
Workwear honesty—indigo, slate, and sun-washed midtones—translated into contract performance. Denim’s spirit without denim itself: color, texture, and serious durability (hello, Xorel)—and acoustic benefits when specified as Xorel Artform, our acoustic panels wrapped in Xorel.
Where it works: banquettes, corridors, indoor/outdoor furniture, focus rooms
Spec cues: PVC-free high-performance textiles in denim-adjacent hues and dry hand textures; abrasion and cleanability that outlasts trends
Pair with: brushed nickel, exposed grain woods, crisp white accents

3. Flannel, Check✓
From lumberjack to luxe: tighter weaves, tonal checks, and Americana grids reimagined for today. Think printed plaids that read convincingly woven, painterly interpretations that soften the geometry, and rich, tactile takes for depth without heaviness.
Where it works: meeting rooms, restaurant lounges, cowork spaces
Spec cues: wool-looks; extreme durability; cleanability; plaid prints
Pair with: smoked glass, oil-rubbed bronze, leather piping

4. Saddle Leather
Heritage warmth without the maintenance headache. Bleach-cleanable leather-looks bring depth and patina—perfect for touchpoints that take a beating.
Where it works: headboards, café seating, benches
Spec cues: bleach-cleanable coated textiles and refined leather-looks; micro-grain textures; cognac → espresso palette
Pair with: hammered hardware, woven textures, aged brass

5. Rustic Wood Looks
Barn-to-boardroom: let the grain lead, keep the chemistry clean. Our wood looks—printed on vinyl-alternative wallcovering or Kirei PET acoustic panels—deliver a believable read with contract-grade durability and performance.
Where it works: feature walls, corridors, elevator interiors
Spec cues: PVC-free; minimum type II wallcovering performance; acoustic panels made with recycled materials
Pair with: denim blues, silver accents, stone textures
Why Ranch-Core?
It taps today’s craving for authenticity, tactility, and longevity—materials that feel lived-in yet elevated, scalable across hospitality and workplace, and supported by contract-ready performance. It’s warmth and story, minus the kitsch.
