Newly opened in 2021, the Oklahoma City Convention Center is a multifunctional hub. The 500,000 square foot space features many different spaces, including a 200,730 square foot exhibit hall, a ballroom equipped with a pre-function space and terrace overlooking Scissortail Park, 27 meeting rooms, and a Junior Ballroom.

When it came to the design process, it was all about aesthetics. Drawing inspiration from its natural surroundings, the space tells a vivid visual story. Level 1 embodies the warmth of the earth, Level 2 draws from the horizon, and Level 3 reflects the vibrant hues of the Oklahoma sky. A thoughtful interplay of color and materiality brings this narrative to life, complete with striking installations such as “Virtual Sky” by Narduli.

The designers needed to specify the perfect textile that would accomplish many things: meet rigorous cleaning and durability requirements, have a sustainability story, and let their designs shine.

"We had a very specific visual story we were trying to tell with this space, so it was important we find the perfect solution that met all of our conditions. Pulse is a beautiful textile made with recycled content that adds a subtle texture without taking away from our overall design intent. We were so happy to finally find a fabric that checked all of our boxes of aesthetics, sustainability, and performance."

Ultimately, Pulse—a refined, minimally textured textile—was selected for the moveable walls. The warm neutral tone of Color 42 perfectly complemented the design vision while aligning with sustainability goals, thanks to its recycled content. With its balance of aesthetics, functionality, and environmental responsibility, Pulse proved to be the ideal choice for this versatile community space.
