Xorel Artform: Fostering a Collaborative Environment

"Using sustainable and highly durable products was important to use in this university setting. The space gets a considerable amount of sunlight, so colorfastness to light was also critical to our selection."

When Amenta-Emma was tapped to renovate the Innovation Center at the Quinnipiac Lender School of Business, one of the primary goals was to use color and materials to inject a sense of energy and interaction between students. In addition to a graphic color statement, it was important that the materials offer an acoustic solution due to the collaborative nature of this space.

When sourcing materials for this project, Designer, Emily Knipe specified Xorel Artform for a variety of reasons. Xorel Artform’s Quiet-Core substrate (NRC 0.8) provided the acoustic solution the space called for, and the ability to pick from over 300 standard Xorel colors gave her the freedom to create a graphic statement design on the wall that fit her palette.

Xorel Artform panels are wrapped with Xorel, an extremely durable and cleanable textile that is acoustically transparent, Cradle to Cradle Silver and Gold and UV stable.

When it came to creating the layouts and presenting the solution to the University, Snipe enlisted the assistance of Carnegie's Acoustic Solutions Design Service which offers complimentary layouts, color selections and rendered elevations.

“Working with the Carnegie Design Services team was helpful and saved time on our end. They brought our concepts to life, which made it easy for us to convey our designs to our client. The team also priced our options, which made it helpful for them to compare designs apples-to-apples.”

From the range of color and shape options, the functional performance of the panels along with the assistance from Carnegie Design Services; Xorel Artform “hit the mark” according to Snipe. “The University was pleased with the dynamic color [and layout] as well as the acoustical support Xorel Artform provided the space. I’d absolutely use Xorel Artform again”
