Xorel is Sustainable

Since its creation in 1981, Xorel’s simplicity has been integral to its environmental impact. Its extruded, solution dyed yarn was the critical element in creating a material that was high on performance and light on the planet. Since that moment 35 years ago, Carnegie has strived to improve its environmental footprint achieving some major industry firsts.

Biobased Xorel

Launched in 2013, this product is the world’s first Biobased high performance interior textile. Biobased Xorel is sourced from the sugar cane plant instead of fossil fuels with absolutely no compromise on performance, beauty or applications. Biobased Xorel has garnered innumerable awards and has earned the rarely achieved Cradle to Cradle Gold Certification.Learn more about Biobased Xorel

Responsible Return Program

When a Xorel installation is taken down after years of service, Carnegie will accept the return of the material for reuse or energy generation. This program insures that Carnegie takes full responsibility for not only the manufacture of the Xorel product but all disposal issues. Backed Xorel will be delivered to an OSHA Star rated Waste to Energy facility located just minutes from our headquarters. In addition, we provide information on local WTE facilities around the country. Unbacked Xorel will be safely re-processed for use in secondary consumer items such as grocery bags, and containers for beverages, cosmetics, shampoos and detergents.
